SVEMSA EMS Education
The Stratford Volunteer EMS Association (SVEMSA) supports the Town of Stratford’s EMS system by offering “workforce readiness” EMT Courses and continuing medical education for Stratford EMS (SEMS). Our EMS Instructor’s are experienced and professional. Some of our instructors have between 25-30 years teaching EMS programs and take great pride in providing professional instruction and coaching in our EMS educational programs.
EMT Courses
Our Winter EMT Course runs from January – April/May. You can find more information and register here
This course is over 200 hours of live (In-person) lecture / classroom time with hands-on practicals in order to prepare the student for examinations for State of Connecticut and perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Will also include 12 hours of clinical observation time.

Financial Aid
The SVEMSA does not offer financial aid through Sallie Mae or other traditional student aid lenders. We accept the GI Bill, cash, credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover), Apple Pay & Google Pay, Purchase Orders from a municipality, personal checks and bank checks.

Stratford Volunteer EMS Association Scholarship Program
SVEMSA offers educational funding to Stratford/Bunnell High School students who pursue education in the allied health fields. This is handled and administered through the Stratford High Schools.

Bound Tree Medical Legacy Scholarship Program
Bound Tree Medical offers educational funding to those continuing a family tradition in the field of EMS through the Legacy Scholarship Program. Children of career or volunteer EMTs, Paramedics or Firefighters can apply for financial support to ease the financial burden associated with the EMT or Paramedic education process.

Platinum Educational Group Annual EMS Scholarship Program
Platinum Educational Group understands the struggles and obstacles that are presented to the EMS community – especially when it pertains to education. Platinum’s goal is to provide students entering the Emergency Medical Services field with assistance in funding his or her education.

Hunters Ambulance Memorial Scholarship
The Hunter’s Scholarship Fund in memory of Bill Lawton and Carol Gillooly has been established in memory of William R. Lawton of Killingworth, Connecticut and Carol A. Gillooly of Middlefield, Connecticut, who lost their lives in the line of duty as Emergency Medical Technicians when struck by a drunk driver on September 2, 1989.
The Memorial Fund has been established for the purposes of providing educational programs, training programs, and financial awards for educational related expense to individuals pursuing or furthering their education or training in the fields of emergency medical services, healthcare, and related fields in their communities, including but not limited to physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, certified nursing assistants, and police and fire personnel.
